If I get a book on asp.net mvc 1.0 is it going to be helpful in learning 2.0? Or is it a waste of money?

Thanks.

edit:

the problem with the books i have read review(s) on are that asp.net mvc encompasses a lot of other techonologies and the book just can't cover everything. I am thinking the safari online books could be good for that but they only have 1.0 that I could find.

No, it won't be a waste of money. MVC 2.0 expands on from MVC 1.0 so anything you learn in MVC 1.0 will be transferable to MVC 2.0.

MVC 2.0 adds new features such as client side validation, areas among others.

A number of MVC 2.0 books are available now so you could just get one of them. Plus the asp.net website has plenty of video tutorials using both MVC 1.0 and MVC 2.0.

If you're buying a book now, I'd go for 2.0, but saying that, if you only had the 1.0 book then it will still fill you in on the basics, leaving you with a good knowledge and just the extra 2.0 bits to research.
