I'm trying to study what features can give Microsoft Commerce Server 2007 and I need to know what features doesn't have respect to other e-commerce systems.

A:

well Microsoft Commerce Server is a platform on top of which you can build all the features you need. If you download the Starter Site, you will see the implementation of very common features and it can be a very good place to start. I have not yet come across any feature that we were not able to implement on our CS based stores. I know there is some backlash on MS products, but i really appreciate CS2007 as it provides us with a robust DB and a very manageable API that allows us to focus on the business side of the application.

I should also add that it plays very well with other systems; IMO much better than other ecommerce platforms.

I can think of a lot of features there... MS Commerce supports B2B sites but it doesn't provide any B2B starter stores. The starter store as such is nothing much to talk about when you compare it to the WCS ones. The business applications are all windows apps which makes them pretty powerful n fast but difficult to customize. Microsoft commerce is tightly coupled to the SQL server and doesn't support any other DB except for the profile part. Some of the processes needs dedicated IT guys, like for e.g. the addition of a business user. In short Microsoft Commerce seems good if you are gonna go with an all microsoft approach(the DB, content management, the webserver) and dont need much customization on the business tools.
