What are your favorite discussion forums for Android issues?

StackOverflow is Google's recommended go-to site for beginner questions but the way it's structured is best for simple questions with simple, black-and-white answers. StackOverflow isn't really structured for an extended discussion where someone says "Try This" , so I post back and say "OK, I tried that, here's a screen shot of what I got" and someone else responds to that, etc.

So are there other high-quality, active Android developer forums? When I Googled for some the ones I found were low traffic - people posting questions and a week later had no responses.

I'm a frequent visitor of AndDev.org. There is also the official developer SDK mailing list.

AndDev is the best one I've found so far, although it's pretty low-traffic, but I should have mentioned it. And mailing lists just seem so clunky and old fashioned

I can't really see your point in saying that StackOverflow is not the right platform for discussing development related questions/topics but thats not related to your question.

I would recommend their IRC channel #android-dev on irc.freenode.net.

"IRC channel #android-dev on irc.freenode.net" <--- I don't know what this is, but if I point my browser at irc.freenode.net I get a blank screen. I'm looking for a conventional threaded web forum.WRT to my first point, suppose I had to post a screen shot or sample code in this response comment - how can I do that? Normal web forums can do that.

IRC (Internet Relay Chat) is a chat tool. Think of it like MS Notepad but multiplayer. ;) The benefit is that IRC is instant so other developers in that channel will help you instantly. If you are interested in learning more about IRC then you can take a look at link number one at the bottom of my comment. You might want to check out link number two. Interesting read. ;)1. Have a look here:

Android Developers on Google Groups

I believe that's just a web summary of their email list. So as far as I know it has no concept of threading or topic-specific subforums or tags or embedded code formatting or anything else that's been invented since Tim Berners-Lee worked at CERN. I'm really looking for something a little more modern. Oh well, I'll mark this as "accepted" to put this thread out of its misery.
