Check-list for choosing a good hosting company for a startup company

Hello all,

We designed a web site that runs through PHP+MySQL+JavaScript+HTML and this website is used to collect local people's information. At this point, we have to decide how to select the hosting company and what the basic requirements should be.

Q1> I am looking for a check-list of features that the hosting company has to provide

  1. Latest PHP + MySQL verson
  2. CRON support
  3. https
  4. remote terminal

what else?

Q2> Also what kinds of domain we have registered. For example, if the wesite name is XXX. What is a better strategy to apply for different domain. www.xxx.com, www.xxx.net, www.xxx.com.jp, etc.
