I'd like to know community feedback about this program. Sounds quite interesting but I doesn't seem that many people / companies are currently using it.

Here is the link for those that don't know it.

I know of a couple of developers that are members of the WebsiteSpark program that you linked to. Keep in mind, though, that it is mainly for freelancers and small businesses which is why you're not going to hear about businesses using it much. There's a different program for that.

Microsoft BizSpark is the same type of deal, but tailored towards start-ups. If I'm not mistaken from my recollection of the Microsoft MIX 09 keynote, StackOverflow was one of the original members of the BizSpark program (and poster-child of how successful a start-up could be using BizSpark).

If you're thinking about trying it out, I wouldn't hesitate. $100 at the end of three years (or whenever you leave the program) is nothing compared to what you would normally pay for something like that. I'll probably be signing up for it myself once my MSDN Subscription runs out next year.

@Justin Niessner: Thanks for the answer. My main problem is that I'm a freelancer developer currently working on some "evolutive" maintenance. I can't be sure that I'll have a new website to publish within the 6 months they require. I could send them an email asking for this situation.

@Timmy O' Tool - If you're a freelance developer, it shouldn't be hard to find a client that wants a reasonable sized site that would only take a month or so to develop on the side. That'll keep you going in the program. And if not, you're out the software and $100. Still not a huge loss.

@Justin Niessner: I thought they required a completely NEW site developed under this program within the 6 months. Probably you're right and any development, even on pre-existing websites, it's enough. Thanks!
