We want to put together a quick and simple software till system for a small scale customer (a single shop). Does anyone have any straightforward tips? Obvious things to avoid?
I suppose even though it's going to be kept simple, we want the user to be able to key in a transaction fairly rapidly. He doesn't want the software holding him up when he has a customer stood there waiting to complete the transaction.
The kind of things I'm wondering about are:
- avoiding the user having to put in the decimal, e.g. just punch 1234 to register as $12.34
- ensure's there's a way to do refunds/corrections
- ability to lock/unlock the screen with a PIN
etc.
Please note there isn't going to be barcoding or anything especially slick or hi-tec in this implementation.
