Who is worth reading? Who is the Scott Gu of the SQL world?

These are folks outside Microsoft I definately recommend following:
I'll add to the list Erland Sommarskog. He has a home page here. I don't know if he maintains a blog anywhere, but he's active on the SQL Server newsgroups and a couple different forums.
I also like a lot of Joe Celko's stuff, which is interesting because he and Erland disagree on a lot of things. Celko also doesn't have a blog that I know of, but again is somewhat active on the newsgroups and forums as well as having many books out on SQL. He has a web page here.
The blogs here have some good info http://lessthandot.com/
Also check out their wiki.
This thread is quite similar: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/197369/library-of-useful-difficult-sql-scripts#197434
Louis Davidson Personal, SQLBlog.com
Jason also puts together semi-regular lists of good SQL blogs that he's found: Good SQL Blogs from around the Tubes and New\Newish SQL Blogs(at least to me)
To get more information about Isolation levels in SQL Server including Locks and its impact on database in detail with examples, refer the below link: http://www.sqllion.com/2009/07/transaction-isolation-levels-in-sql-server/
Paul S. Randal (husband of the already mentioned Kimberly L. Tripp, they run sqlskills.com together)
I read [Brent Ozar's blog][1], Jamie Thomson's blog, and [Tim Mitchell's blog][3]
Good luck!
