What's the format of .lib in windows?

AFAIK, .dll is in PE format, what about .lib?

I always though they were COFF format

Seems not,I know `.so` on linux are in COFF format,though.

Some compilers (eg. Microsoft) use COFF format and some (eg. Borland/Codegear) use OMF format.

That KB link is very old and doesn't look right to me looking at some modern .lib files.
