What do you like about Use cases in specifications, proposal documents?

+1  A:

I think of them like a Client story.
They can be used in EVERY development phase:

  1. specification (specifies exactly what happens after each userinteraction)
(better and easy understanding for client what happens)
  2. development (developer uses that to create workflow in application)
  3. testing (tester can follow use case, and verify correctness)
  4. documentation (use case describes how system works)

I like use cases and user stories because they remind me why I'm in this business. They help me understand the people whose lives will be easier, and who will be more confident about their work because of what I can do for them. And they can do it entirely in their own words, without any obligation on their part to understand the arcana of my technical world.

For a short period of time, my only responsibility will be to listen, and learn, without needing to make any decisions about technology - yet.

In other words, I get to start from the beginning.

I like the statement:"my only responsibility will be to listen, and learn, without needing to make any decisions technology - yet"

The use case allows me to deliver what my clients want instead of what they're asking for.

Shouldn't that be 'need' rather than 'want'?
