Hi,

Currently I'm a .NET developer, I've been working with WinForms, WPF,a little with ASP.NET, Silverlight and recently with raw HTML/JavaScript/CSS and using IIS/.NET as server side only. And I've really enjoyed this last one, because now I understand what ASP.NET is doing under the hood, and that has made me a better developer, I think :P I've been developing custom components for a custom framework (like the UI clashes in ASP.NET).

No I have to move to another thing, because what I do here is not gonna be done by other companies, and it's a good experience but it's been a while, so I was planing to get into Sharepoint and become a WebPart developer for some company, because I'd like to go on developing web components to be used for other developers.

I have no idea about the Sharepoint world, but my friends have told me that what I want to become, is very feasible and there is lots of positios like that.

My plan is get strongly into ASP.NET 3.5 and after go with Sharepoint 2010 in order to be ready in around 3 months.

So what do you think about this? Is it a feasible plan?

Thanks in advance.

Strong Sharepoint developers need a lot of time doing sharepoint, 3 months is pretty quick.

but they had to start in any moment? hadn't they? haha. I mean, I don't pretend become an expert in sharepoint in 3 months, I want just learn enough to develop webparts. Or do you mean that you have to be a strong sharepoint developer to do webparts?

I think you can definately get your feet wet in 3 months with webparts.

3 months isn't too short to develop WebParts - especially if you have a strong .NET background such as yourself. WorkFlows are also an avenue to investigate. The power you can utilize with WebParts and WorkFlows is huge.
