Cannot load wamp services but they work from command line

Question

" I had WampServer running well for a long while. For some reason it stopped responding and I cannot get any error messages anywhere as to why.

Trying to load the mysql and then apache services using services.msc reports:

For wampmysqld: "Could not start wampmysqld on Local Computer. Error 1067: the process terminated unexpectedly."

For wampapache: "Could not start wampapache on Local Computer. For more information, review the System Event Log....."

The system event log has only these messages, nothing more informative. With both of then, I can start the applications when using command line (cmd) and everything loads well.

I have a backup of my C:\Wamp folder and I see no files have changed.

Where else is there relevant configuration which might have been altered? How to check and remedy the situation?
