Cufon and back button

I have done a few tests with cufon and one problem consistently occurs. When I have a hover state on my main nav then click it to go to the new page it works fine. Then when I click the back button that navigation item is still highlighted.

Any solutions. I have heard of the onunload hack but it doesn't work in firefox or safari.

Please help.
