SAP CERTIFICATION

I have 1.5 years of experience in an IT firm in Bangalore. I want to learn SAP through some good institute and get certified . but I have heard doing SAP course is beneficial only when one has more than four years of experience. I want growth in my career,plus i am not satisified with technology i am currently working on .So is this the right time to get SAP certified?
