Hi guys, my notebook (Toshiba L350D-211) running Debian GNU/Linux has a major problem: The fan control doesn't work, thus leading to overheat situations often. I searched a lot in the web, and several people suggested things like disabling ACPI, update the BIOS, use 'omnibook' and 'k10temp' kernel modules etc. Unfortunately none of them solve the problem.

After some research I found out that the problem resides in a corrupt DSDT in the ACPI component of the BIOS (if I understood everything correctly). I'm really out of ideas now, since I've never done such low-level stuff and wondering if there's somebody who can help out or give hints/tips. By the way, I read the DSDT is corrupt because the Microsoft ASL compiler was used -- don't know if this info helps.

Regards, Stefan.
