sites for outsourced, task-orientated coding resources

Question

Are there any sites where one can get sections of programming done for really reasonable rates?

I'm looking for a "software" market. Somewhere where you can get someone to take over your code (and, in some cases, entire project) for a while to get a certain section coded for a pre-decided amount of money.

Hopefully the developer and requester could both be rated or build a little bit of a persona.

Someone I interviewed once said they used a site that did this, but I have no idea what to Google for to find it :)

A few people in the past have suggested elance.com to me, but I've never used it personally.

RentACoder.com is another freelance coder site. Success results may vary. It appears that a very large portion of the user base is off-shore and dirt cheap.

I have used rentacoder.com with success. You have to be careful to select a good developer though.

It is best to try a few developers out with small projects before doing any large ones.

I have also used elance.com a few times but like RentACoder better for finding developers. Elance does have a wider range of service provider types though.

ODesk is one that I have heard of but not tried. If it is really unskilled grunt work you need you may find the turk suits you needs
