My boss asked me for some examples on larger Silverlight 2.0 applications in the banking/insurance sector.

Looking at http://silverlight.net/showcase/ I only found a few simple apps (calculator style).

Do you have any links, possibly developed by yourself?

Silverlight is new so I don't think we have many "Critical" applications out there. I work for an insurance company and we have Silverlight App. Not a complicated one, its just another claims calculator :)

Silverlight 2 did not really give you much to create a complex application. But once Silverlight 3 is in production, you will probably see much more complex apps. Version 3 fixed alot of the limitations and add so many basic things that really enable true larger scale apps.

Well, Silverlight 2 was released October 2008, so no. Larger applications need some time to develop, and in the case of the insurance/banking sector a lot of time to develop.

In the current economic climate it would be difficult to introduce new technology with no direct economic benefit like Silverlight.

It's not production, but an example you might want to look at is the Patterns & Practices guidance on Silverlight (PRISM v2). I am using that now on an application I am building and it helps to reduce risk and accelerate architecture.

Well my app is not banking related but is something a bit serious, it's a DB Schema Modeler, you can find it at http://www.dbschemaeditor.com

About banking, there's a nice fancy demo from Ms
