Some months ago I lost my Sidebar. The application is registered for automatic start in the registry. The Sidebar control panel comes up fine. However the Sidebar itsself refuses to display. Task manager reports no sidebar.exe presently running. Tryin to launch sidebar from the start menu or from the command line results in.... nothing happening.

I read a few posts online about unregistering and re-registering the sbdrop.dll and wlsrvc.dll COM libraries. When I atempt this (regsvr32 sbdrop.dll, or regsvr32 wlsrvc.dll) I get the following message: The module "sbdrop.dll" was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x8007007e. (substitute wlsrvc.dll where appropriate in the error message for that module)

As far as I can tell, error code 0x8007007e is the code indicating that a file can not be found.

I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 32-bit with IE8 RTM and all the latest critical, important, and recommended updates from Microsoft.

I've taken this as far as I can. Does anyone have any thoughts on what file those modules could be missing? Or how I can restore the sidebar?

Thanks.
