How to create transparent SYSLINK win32 control?

I tried creating with LWS_TRANSPARENT flag and WS_EX_TRANSPARENT ex flag (those are CreateWindowEx()) arguments, but that doesn't work. MSDN doesn't say much about syslink controls.
