The velocity team blog has been quite quiet recently - http://blogs.msdn.com/velocity/default.aspx. I'm hoping they're just busy getting a Beta or RC ready!

I read that it's going to be released in early 2010.

Details here on upgrading from the Beta 2 Refresh bits to the v1 release.

When will Microsoft release the RC of Microsoft Velocity? This project is a very promising one. I hope they will release it as soon as possible. :)

Beta 2 will run on Windows 7 and can be installed through the Web Platform Installer. You need to enable the Enterprise tab in the WPI first - see http://blogs.msdn.com/rjacobs/archive/2010/03/04/installing-windows-server-appfabric-with-the-web-platform-installler.aspx. Note that as I've just added in my answer, you can't install AppFabric once you've installed the .NET 4.0 RTM release.
