Community Wiki Question.

I am looking forward to January 01, 2013. Since US patents must be filed no later than a year after publication, some of the later patents are questionable, and MP3 may be patent free in the US by December of 2012.

What nerdy milestones are you eagerly awaiting?

2048 is the first one that springs to mind, 2038 is the second one.

2032, written as 32 = 2^5 is written 100000 in binary.2048, written as 48 is written 110000 in binary.I can't think of any other reason.

My mistake, I meant to write 2038, but got the numbers mixed up.

Any embedded OS that keeps track of the year as a byte (as years since 1900) may go from 2027 (1900 + 127) to 1772 (1900 - 128). Unless they have corrected the year to be an unsigned byte.

You would be surprised just how many home-grown embedded OSes there are.
