I am starting to develop mobile apps in Visual Studio and I wondering if someone could suggest what 3rd parties controls would be the best choice. I tried the standard controls in VS but they are not of much help. I know there is a toolkit from Resco and ComponentOne. Any experience with one of those? Thank you!

OpenNETCF's Smart Device Framework is worth checking out (although not specifically control oriented)
There is a free community edition (as well as a commercial version).

I checked the OpenNETCF Community Edition and Resco MobileForms Toolkit Evaluation Edition as well. The one from Resco seems like better fit even though it is not for free. Though the one from OpenNETCF that is for free is quite limited. As I could read on their web they provide unlimited support, make regular updates, and enlarge the number of controls in the toolkit. Does someone have experience with the Toolkit from Resco?

The OpenNETCF Library's value really doesn't lie in the UI Controls - that's never been the SDF's focus. The real value lies in the hundreds of other classes and thousands of other methods and properties.

@ctacke: absolutely. It's really helped me out more than once.

We use the Resco controls at my work. There have been a few bugs that occur in the designer in previous versions but that seems to be sorted now. All up quite happy with the components particularly the advanced list and chart components.
