Which do you recommend?

Reading source code from opensource applications really helps me improve my programming skills.

I have read source code from Hudson and StructureMap, and they inspired me a lot. I can't wait to see some more from WinForm applications!

You could look at SharpDevelop, which has also has a book published about it.

I believe Paint.NET is/was a WinForms app. I've heard they are moving to WPF for next release.

To clarify, Paint.NET is not open source. In fact, according to http://paintdotnet.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=489 the latest source isn't even available for reading.

I see your point. You used to be able to d/l the source code for it.

I was pretty surprised with how involved the CloudPad GUI was. Conceptually the idea is simple but the developer spent a lot of time making the GUI extremely friendly. Check it out.
