Can somebody please help me setup haXe? Their website is http://www.haXe.org/ I've downloaded the required files but don't understand how to set it up.

download the windows Installer from the following link: http://haxe.org/file/hxinst-win.exe and install it like any other program.

haXe is a command line compiler so it is correct that is simply pop-ups a command prompt and disappear. Just follow the instructions here: "Getting started with haXe/Flash" and see if it all works as expected. If you want to avoid having to deal with the compiler directly you should use a capable IDE such as FlashDevelop for Windows.
