netbeans topcomponent context

Hello, I am trying to add a top component of my own in Netbeans 6.1. I want to do it correctly so I will get the context sensitivity features of the topcomponent. 1. what do i need to do to add the topcomponent correctly? 2. how do I control and configure the actions of the topcomponent (toolbar/shortcuts/enable/disable...)
