How does one go about "evangelizing" a language?

I was wondering: if you have a relatively unknown programming language that you love and want to get more people using it, what can be done to "evangelize" the langueage? E.G. where would you go, what would you say, etc.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I am a pragmatist in virtually everything I do. I find 'evangelists' (for anything, not just platforms or languages) patronising. I am big enough to think for myself. If the thing that you're promoting has good features, and is likely to be useful to me, then I may chose to adopt it of my own free will. But please don't try to push things at me. I am more likely to ignore you :)

How about attending Barcamps and the like ( http://barcamp.org/ ) and giving people a few demos of what it can do ?

If there isn't enough documentation around, you could write a book about it. What language are you referring to? Good luck and amen.
