Hello,

I am looking for a good shared host which can host magento based web store. Any recommendations would be more than welcome.

Thanks.

There are no good "shared" hosts for Magento.

I suggest getting a VPS.

I agree with greencoconut all the way, but there's more to it than that. Magento is not intended at all to run on shared hosting. You will find yourself severely crippled in development without SSH access to your server, and shared hosting is typically going to make using Magento miserable in terms of speed. If you are going to be accepting credit cards, you will need a dedicated IP address for your site so you can install an SSL for the site. Often shared hosting cannot provide that. If you want to do it the right way, shared hosting is NOT an option.

A shared host isn't likely going to cut it for Magento.

I suggest getting a VPS (I have mine with ServInt for ~$50/month, but many others will do for a little cheaper).

The key is that you need root/shell access, the ability to install certain things to make Magento run more smoothly, tweak PHP and Apache configuration, and have a good amount of memory allocated for PHP.

Examples: have control over the version of PHP, install APC, Memcache, etc.

I've been using Aspiration Hosting for a few months and haven't had any problems.

Get a good VPS host. +1 for ServInt, I've used them in the past and they're great. Another alternative is SliceHost for starting out.
