I am looking for a book that covers how to do freelance as a web developer. I know there are many general freelance books out there, but I am looking for a freelance book that is somewhat focused on freelancing as a web developer.

Some of things I am looking for in the book are:

  1. Examples of Contracts and Terms & Conditions related to web development
  2. What are important things to include on your Terms & Conditions
  3. How often and at what stages to show materials to the client and get it signed off
  4. How often and at what stages to charge for your work
  5. How much to charge for your work (Hourly or Job based)
  6. How to handle a client who changes their needs throughout the project and how to reflect that in the cost and deadline of the project
  7. Does the freelancer retain rights to their code to re-use in other projects and how to write that into the contract
  8. Examples of Invoicing related to web development
  9. How to deal with taxes and bookkeeping
  10. How to quote a client for web development work

I really am looking for a book that is more specific toward web development and shows plenty of examples of some of these things, not just talking about it, so actual physical examples of contracts, terms & conditions, invoices, time tracking sheets, how to write up a quote, and any other paperwork that freelance web developers use on their projects.

Thanks all!

I dont know about any books but i read answers for such questions in Elance customer support.

Elance is one of the largest freelance sites and their support pretty covers lots of FAQs.

I believe you will find most of the answers in How to Be a Rockstar Freelancer from Rockable Press (people behind the FreelanceSwitch.com site), it was a great read for me.

I already ordered that book after some research. It isn't really specific to web development, but I appreciate the fact you took the time to answer such an old question, so i'll give you the check mark. Thanks!

It isn't specifically geared toward web-development, but a big portion of the stuff you're seeking is covered in good detail in The Principles Of Successful Freelancing.
