Checking a website on old versions of popular Browsers

Question

Merry Christmas Guys,

Has somebody tested their website on multiple versions of different browsers? I am running Windows and wanted to test if my site breaks on FF 2, 2.5, 3 or IE 6, 7. Is there a resource on the net where I can download older versions of these browsers? Further, How do I run all the versions in parallel - won't a newer version try to upgrade an existing older version?

EDIT: Browsershots seems promising. Thanks. However, Is there a way to install all versions on my comp? (all are free after all!) I wanted that to make the process of changing something on the site more fluid.

You can install IE6 on Windows Vista or 7 by following these instructions.

You can install multiple versions of Firefox by following these instructions.

You can install multiple versions of Firefox on the same machine, with (in my experience) no problems.

You can’t (without hacks) install multiple versions of Internet Explorer on the same machine. If it’s an option, having a virtual machine (e.g. with VMWare) for each version of IE is the safest option.

This is only for the IE side of things, but Microsoft provides pre-built Virtual Machines that allow you to test your application in IE 6, 7, 8 with no licensing or installation required.
