For sure stackoverflow is gaining loads of momentum!

Do you chaps want to share your other favorites? I understand there are different natures of DB forums though. To name a few:

  • vendor specific
  • programming specific
  • administration specific
  • business nature specific

and so on... would appreciate if you could mention what verticals your favorites are strong at.

Cheers!

dbForums is good. There are forums for all the major DBMSs, and my particular favourite general forum Database Concepts and Design

Google Groups has some good database forums, including comp.databases.theory for those who like to consider the theoretical foundations of the relational model etc.

SQLServerCentral as name suggests its primary focus is MS SQL Server.

The only downside of this excellent service is that it requires registration.

DBA Village is specific to Oracle, but the quality of the content is better than you would expect from a forum.

There are dedicated Stack Exchange sites for both SQL Server and for Oracle. These are maintained by Simple Talk Publishing.
