It seems that baseball is perhaps the easiest sport to simulate due to its very linear nature. I'm curious as to whether not there is someone out there with some experience in this matter that can advise me as to the best route to go.

There are several options, such as simulating each pitch, simulating an at bat as a single event, or simulating the entire game. Any suggestions?

When creating an application I believe thinking of the user experience first and then the development second is the best way to proceed. I personally would prefer a game with the "at bat Event" style. This would allow flexibility in changing your lineup and picking pinch hitters while not being overly complicated that I believe a Pitch by Pitch game could become. That's what I would develop but thats because that's what I like. Perhaps you prefer something else.

As far as Algorithims are concerned I'm afraid I don't have any I could offer. I once worked on a card game with a baseball theme. However, the project was never completed.

I hope this helps and would like to hear which direction you head with this.

I think this is the best I'm probably going to get on SO. It doesn't really answer much for me, but it did get the juices flowing, and the time you took to post something meaningful is appreciated.
