How might running my application in a virtual machine impact its scheduling?

When not on a virtual environment I might expect it to be scheduled to run every 10ms. I don't know what to expect when in a virtual environment. So presuming the system is running at a steady and modest load of about 30% maximum load..

Would the typical scheduling period change?
Would the worst case scheduling period change?
