Going purely on aesthetics, what would you say is the best-looking webapp?

Maybe google apps, but I wouldn't really class google.com itself as a webapp.

From a usability point of view, Google's site is great. That's why I use it daily.From an aesthetic point of view (which is the topic), it doesn't look that good, I even find some pages to be rather ugly. Some Google pages look dated in my opinion. Ex.: http://www.google.com/intl/en/about.html

@JasonFruit - Exactly! Bling for its own sake has *no* aesthetic appeal to me. Google search is a great example of form following function.

only sort of agreed. the original facebook, before the started the app framework, had a very clean, pretty interface, but since they introduces the app framework it got waaay too busy and now sucks.

I like the new facebook. I find it much easier to use once you get used to it and also allows you to use it much faster, both download wise and moving around the site.

Hehe, sorry to upset the mob but Zombo is awesome. A very classic troll tool, but still, it keeps you engaged. Shouldn't a good application keep you engaged?

I really like rememberthemilk.com, and I also like the new cerb4 helpdesk. Both apps are not just pretty, they've done a lot in terms of usability as well.

"Going purely on aesthetics" <- So even if it's a popup, it shouldn't matter. But if you do not like it due to it's look, you should rather comment why you don't like it instead of making the post look like a "spam-popup"

In terms of web apps, I like to look at usability as well as sheer good looks. There are some strong contenders in this list from Jakob Nielsen.
Personally, I'm considering moving my accounts to Xero on the strength of its usability and good looks - it's so far advanced of most other accounting packages!

I love ravelry! it's clean, pretty and well organized. It's created by one guy from his wife's input. I am a knitter too so i can appreciate this app.
