(more of a demand than a question I know)

ask him following things (in that exact order)
- show me your most beautiful piece of code (and why he thinks it is)
- show me your most ugly piece of code (and why he had to introduce it / why there was no proper solution)
- name your three favourite design patterns
- why are design patters bad for good software architecture?
- tell me a good joke (if it isn't funny at all, quit the interview here)
- tell me the one you thought of first but didn't want to tell me because of the the current situation (I'm the interviewer your the interviewee)
.... most important thing about a developer aren't the skills he brings with him but the ones he is willing to learn! next important thing is his ability to learn, the speed at which he learns stuff and by far the most important thing: HOW ABLE HE IS TO DEAL WITH PEOPLE and integrate himself into an existing team.
