Hello,

Is IPhone development possible on MacBook? Or do I need MacBook Pro?

Thanks.

Yes. It'll work great! All you need is the iPhone SDK, downloadable from Apple.

All you need is OS X on an Intel device. I believe they introduced Intel chips in 2006/2007 or so, so anything relatively new would work. This is includes any currently offered Apple computer, including the Mini (cheapest option!), iMac, Mac Pro, and all notebooks.

You need an Intel CPU too. OS X Leopard still runs on PowerPC CPUs

Updated, thanks.

Any Intel MacBook that can run the current Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6.x) will work. Just make sure you have enough disk space. I'm using an old model MacBook for iOS development right now (but the HD is almost full). An large external monitor is helpful, but not required.

+1 for monitor comment. Especially if you want to do iPad development, you need an external monitor at least 1200 pixels tall (to avoid having it scale down by showing every fourth pixel) to work in the portrait orientation.

@frankschmitt: While a large external monitor is extremely valuable, you don't NEED one. I've got 2 iPad apps in the store developed on a 13" macbook. Why? Because a large monitor is much harder to carry out to the park bench under a tree where the squirrels can watch me code...

Yes, I have iPhone SDK on my 13" white Macbook. Runs without a problem.

The only thing that doesn't work well, IMO, is the simulator for iPad apps. The screen is too small and you're forced to scroll or view things VERY tiny in portrait mode.

I bought a white unibody MacBook three weeks ago and I'm a proud iPhone application developer right now!

You may want to get a secondary display in order to test your designs on the Retina display, though, as the MacBook's screen resolution is simply too low to accommodate the 100%-scale Retina display. I also recommend using a mouse as I find it a bit difficult to interact with the iPhone Simulator using the trackpad.
