Web Application using PHP + MySQL

Anyone got challenging web application project (preferably using PHP + MySQL) ideas suitable for first class degree?

It depends. Because the best project is one that is personally interesting to you.

This question is actually asked quite a bit around the web and Stack Overflow, and really, it's barely answerable in a one-size-fits-all-answer.

Here are some suggestions:

• look around for interesting PHP tutorials, implement them, or perhaps any branching ideas you can think of
• look around on Source Forge (or other open source sites) for PHP projects that you can dabble around in or jump into
• look around for class websites or PHP books and consider implementing an interesting project/homework/problem
• Or create a project of your own by brainstorming your interests
