The networking application that I've written does TCP communication with N-1 (itself) other Machines in the List (N) of Machines participating in the system.
Upon application startup the application currently picks a Random Delay time (1000-3000ms) before attempting to connect to each of its peer systems
If Machine 1 attempts to Connec...
As it states, I need to upload a file, and then use it in the pre_init event of a second page. Server lifecycle prevents this (as pre_init happens before the event handlers), that's fine, so the only way I can see around is to use page1 to upload the file, then do a response.redirect to the page2 where I can use the file in the pre_init....
Does the OneWay operations in WCF service execute as long as the operation is complete?
By my experiment, I think there is no timeout. I was able to run an operation for half an hour. (I closed after that)
Can someone experienced in WCF answer this? If there is a timeout, where can I specify it

I'm sometimes getting the following error in my application:
Cannot use a DependencyObject that belongs to a different thread than its parent Freezable
I know how to solve this kind of error, but in that case I have no idea where it is happening, so I don't know what to fix... The exception's stack trace only contains .NET framewor...
Hi All,

I am writing a WPF application using C#. I need the application to continue to run for two minutes and then perform some maintenance. The user may not be interacting with it so user driven events are not guaranteed.
What is the event I should be monitoring to fulfill this requirement?
Here is some pseudo code of what I am considering...
I was trying to learn a bit about .net intermediate language, and hoping to step through it, but from what I can tell, I'm seeing something else - maybe the output of a just in time compiler?
Is there a way to step through the IL?

Disclaimer: I know IDisposable should be implemented when dealing with unmanaged resources. The rest of the code should be deterministic and do using (...) { } (equivalent of try {} finally { Dispose(); }) to guarantee a cleanup as soon as possible. Also, the GC will not call Dispose(), so the recommended pattern is to override the Fin...
Is there a guarantee that the Load event if an UserControl always occurs after the InitializeComponent() method and the constructor have been completed?

Maybe a stupid question but when I have an abstract generic class, say A<T>, and I want to build a dictionary with the abstract class as value and some other type as key in a completely different class. How do I do that without specifying the type?
Dictionary<int, A<T>> dictionary doesn't compile of course.

I have a Windows form datagridview. I am dynamically changing the background color of row header. The background color is getting successfully changed if the OS display style is classic. I thought everything was looking good with my user controls, styles and layout etc, until I released a version for the user to test. They asked if the Toggle button could be Green when checked. I said it is, but it wasn't. I checked on my machine and it was Green. Turns out he has a different xp style set to me. i.e. he has 'Windows...
Hi all,
From what I read, Google Federated Login is OpenID and OAuth together. I've read the samples included with dotnetopenauth (theres a Gmail Contacts one in there) and sort of get it.
What is freaking me out, then, is if Google Federated Login is a combination of these two protocols, how on earth am I supposed to implement it when...
I am looking to make an installer for a .net application which requires a few other MSI be run. Because of the restriction that you can only run one MSI at a time(honestly, is it 1995?) and my desire to provide configurability of which MSIs to run I can't just shove the MSIs in a bootstrapper as seems to be the recommend practice. I fo...

I'm looking for a sip stack that can be used in .Net to create a pbx. Are there any other than these two:
http://sipsorcery.codeplex.com/
http://www.codeproject.com/KB/cs/SIP_stack_with_SIP_proxy.aspx
If not, are there any .net wrapper (to create a pbx, not a ua) available to a c/c++ stack?
If not, which stack would you create a wrapp...
