I have a struct, with a Name and a single Node called nextName
It's a Singly Linked list, and my task is to create the list, based on alphabetical order of the strings.
So iff i enter Joe Zolt and Arthur i should get my list structured as
Joe
Than
Joe Zolt
Than
Arthur Joe Zolt

I've been trying to understand the intricacies of how POSIX threads and POSIX signals interact. In particular, I'm interested in:
What's the best way to control which thread a signal is delivered to (assuming it isn't fatal in the first place)?
What is the best way to tell another thread (that might actually be busy) that the signal ha...
Hi,
I'm using fopen in C to write the output to a text file. The function declaration is (where ARRAY_SIZE has been defined earlier):
void create_out_file(char file_name[],long double *z1){
FILE *out;
int i;
if((out = fopen(file_name, "w+")) == NULL){
fprintf(stderr, "***> Open error on output file %s", file_name)...
I am kind of new to C (I have prior Java, C#, and some C++ experience). In C, is it necessary to declare a function prototype or can the code compile without it? Is it good programming practice to do so? Or does it just depend on the compiler? (I am running Ubuntu 9.10 and using the GNU C Compiler, or gcc, under the Code::Blocks IDE)

Hi,

I am new to C and I was reading about how pointers "point" to the address of another variable. So I have tried indirect invocation and direct invocation and received the same results (as any C/C++ developer could have predicted). This is what I did:
int cost;
int *cost_ptr;
int main()
{
cost_ptr = &cost; //...
Input(text): DEADBEEF
Output(4 bytes array): DE AD BE EF
How to do this?

I have a C program which has a function call that is defined in windows.h (which I have included), however, when I try and compile it with gcc, I get the error:
warning: implicit declaration of function `LockWorkStation'
I looked at the MSDN documentation and I see that this function is the User32 library file, and I was wondering ho...
I'm trying to create an array of structs and also a pointer to that array. I don't know how large the array is going to be, so it should be dynamic. My struct would look something like this:
typedef struct _stats_t
{
int hours[24]; int numPostsInHour;
int days[7]; int numPostsInDay;
int weeks[20]; int numPostsInWeek;
int totNumLines...
As the title indicates, are there any C/C++ bytecode compilers/interpreters? I'm writing an application in an interpreted language that depends on certain libraries that are fully cross-compilable (there are no special flags to indicate code changes during compilation for a certain platform) but are written in C and C++. Rather than ship...
Hi All,
Here is my code which is doing the conversion from hex to decimal. The hex values are stored in a unsigned char array:
int liIndex ;
long hexToDec ;
unsigned char length[4];
for (liIndex = 0; liIndex < 4 ; liIndex++)
{
length[liIndex]= (unsigned char) *content;
printf("\n Hex value is %.2x", length[liIn...
The getnameinfo prototype asks for sockaddr but I have only seen examples using sockaddr_in. Can this example be re-written for sockaddr ? sin_family becomes sa_family but what about sin_port and sin_addr ? How are they included in sa_data ?

unsigned short sa_family;
char sa_data[14];
};

How can I implement chmod command on file by using exec? I would appreciate if anyone can provide me a code.

Im trying to create a C based string menu where a user inputs a command and then a block of code runs.
Whatever i do the conditional is never true:
char *input= "";
fgets(input, 50, stdin);
printf("%s",input);
printf("%d",strcmp( input,"arrive\0"));
if(strcmp( input,"arrive\0")==0){....

I have one microcontroller sampling from a lot of ADC's, and sending the measurements over a radio at a very low bitrate, and bandwidth is becoming an issue.
Right now, each ADC only give us 10 bits of data, and its being stored in a 16-bit integer. Is there an easy way to pack them in a deterministic way so that the first measurement ...
Hi, I am pretty rusty at C, and I'm getting a dereferencing error. Hopefully someone can help me with this? ^_^
I have a struct defined as:
struct {
char name[32];
int size;
int start;
int popularity;
} stasher_file;
and an array of pointers to those structs:
struct stasher_file *files[TOTAL_STORAGE_SIZE];

I have this piece of code that is giving me trouble.
I know all the threads are reading the same struct. But I have no idea how to fix this.

int a,b;
} s_param;

Hi I'm working with C and I have a question about assigning pointers.
struct foo
{
int _bar;
char * _car[SOME_NUMBER]; // this is meant to be an array of char * so that it can hold pointers to names of cars
}
int foofunc (void * arg)

int bar;
char * car[SOME_NUMBER];
struct foo * thing = (struct foo *) arg;

What does this do?

I want to copy one directory and the two files under it to another shared location of shared storage. Is it possible to combine the three(one directory and two files) as a continuous file writing and decompose it at another side to save the cost? I am limited to c language and Unix/Linux. I am considering to create a structure with the i...
