Can anyone suggest a good self-hosted php webmail solution?

I share a server on a commercial collocation site and every now and then I add a domain here and there, mostly for email hosting (family, friends), even though it runs php. (my blog is hosted there for example).

Right now im running Open Webmail, last released in 28-Feb-2005! I know there's something better "out there".

Would appreciate any tips.

Cheers,

+1 for Horde. It's really very excellent.

+1 for Horde. Not only is it an excellent webmail solution, but it can also be used as a full groupware solution. I use mine to host my e-mails, calendar (which I share with my wife), we create our shopping list in a shared "Tasks" list. I'm in the middle of writing an Android Application to retrieve all this data using the built-in APIs, including publishing the photos I take on my phone to the Gallery module. It's a REALLY nice system.

http://roundcube.net/ is a really neat PHP based webmail client (only for IMAP though). It's pretty stable by now and is the most eye-pleasing of the lot that I've tried. It even allows you to drag and drop emails and tries to offer the usability of a desktop client as much as possible.

I've been using RoundCube for quite a while now, it's quite nice! Highly recommended!

if you want more of an exchange feel, you can look into zarafa, who recently released an open source version of their exchange clone software.

I have used Horde (a.k.a IMP) before and it worked great. I recommend it heartily.
