Open document in edit mode from approval workflow email.

Question

A MOSS 2007 Approval WorkFlow has been created for a standard Document Library (containing Word files). When the email alert goes out to the perspective user, the user clicks on the link within the email to review the document. The document opens as read only. Is there a way to open the document in edit mode?

To be clear: Opening the document within the SharePoint environment does give the option to open the document in either Read Only or Edit Mode. However, the question pertains to when accessing the document from a link within an email that the WorkFlow sends out. Also, when opening the document from the email, the Edit document bar is not there and only gives the option to approve.
