Wordpress search goes to mainpage

Question

I have made my search to work as Ajax request. So when user clicks search, my javascript will catch that submit event and loads content from href of search form submit, but my problem is that I get mainpage where search results are inserted. How can I make search page to contain only search related html?

Lots of possibilities....

There's a Wordpress support thread that solves the same problem; it might be useful, though it doesn't involve ajax.

Also, there is a thead that say some old themes have index.html files which redirect to index.php, and that causes a search redirect to home. And another interesting thread on search not working.
