All,

I'm currently having trouble tracking down an issue we are having with a production website. The issue is that the site is becoming unresponsive during the day, requiring a recycle of the application pool to get the site back up and running again. If we don't see the issue right away, there are times when the site will come back up on it's own (and these times vary greatly).

Does anyone know what may be causing this? I have used the process explorer during a couple of the unresponsive times and sometimes, the w3wp.exe process is taking up almost all of the CPU, and sometimes it is taking very little if any at all. We have been going through the system / event logs and we receive the following in the system log: Event ID:1013 "A process serving application pool 'PoolName' exceeded time limites during shut down. The process id was 'PID'".

I researched and found some potential causes, but most have not fit our situation. If anyone has an answer, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Steve O'Keefe
