This is in continuance to the http://stackoverflow.com/questions/139017/learning-a-programming-language-at-an-elderly-age">previous question which I asked yesterday. I received an overwhelming response where community members encouraged me to have a go at a programming language. There were recommendations for learning languages such as Python, Visual Basic et al.

I have decided to tame my programming desires by learning Python. Therefore, I have posted this question. If this question has already been posted on this site, then please put a link as I could not find it in Related Questions as well as through the Search feature present in the forum.

The one that seems to get suggested in every other thread is Dive into Python. It's free, so that's a plus.

I taught myself Python by doing lots of exercises. I collected them into my Building Skills books.
