There was a question about hosting for django on SO, but I am looking for free one, to experiment with my first "startup" :)

There is only one free on http://code.djangoproject.com/wiki/DjangoFriendlyWebHosts , but it couldn't be profitable (http://www.ambitiouslemon.com/). My app eventually will be, I hope! :)

Do you know any easy to set up hosting for a beginner that allows commercial projects? Mainly to show startup to few people and add it to portfolio... : - )

Webfaction isn't free, but it is cheap shared hosting with an easy interface to setup your Django project.

+1 for WebFaction; they provide an excellent service.

Google App Engine is free if you don't use much traffic and stay under their quota.

Get a dynamic dns name (dyndns.org) forward port 80 through your router to a desktop and you're done.

It sounds to me like your project doesn't currently violate Ambitious Lemon's terms and conditions, per se. Since you're not actively making money from the project it might be okay. You could always contact them and ask.

Otherwise Google App Engine or setting up your own web server are probably your best options. Django takes enough server resources and requires enough setup that most free hosting companies aren't going to let you run a Django app.
