Do you have any ideas on how to successfully market a Point of Sale solution, or any software solution targeted at small businesses for that matter? I'm interested in some kind of dedicated advertising channels, because I presume it wouldn't be of much use to advertise on software websites, as the solution is not targeted at most end-users, but at a small number of people, who own small-to-medium retail ventures.

If you need to target a specific group then you need to network with that group. This involves getting out there and doing the leg work in order to explain why your solution is better than anyone elses.
Possible areas to where this can be done include:
- Joining online communities such as LinkedIn where your marks congregate
- Joining local chamber of commerce groups where your marks congregate
- Basic upfront cold calling to retail businesses in order to get face time with your marks

@Daniel I was amused by my rep when it hit 666 a few days ago! Since then I have had a devil of a time finding a means of adding to my rep!

I know I'm a little late in the game, but if you are interested in having someone do the leg work for you, I'm working on a start-up that markets applications and software solutions. We'll find the platforms where your potential customers are and decide which channels to focus your promotion efforts. Both online and offline included. [email protected]
