Most IDEs come with complete documentation that can be installed locally, but I have a particular problem with PHP, as even the Netbeans PHP IDE links to online docs. How do you manage yours? Is there a hidden downloadable docs for PHP somewhere?

Yep you can download the PHP documentation in several languages here : http://www.php.net/download-docs.php

Thank you!!! Where on earth did you find a link to that?

On the PHP.net home page :)Following the "documentation" link at the top : http://www.php.net/docs.phpAnd then the "Documentation downloads" link.

The english CHM does not work for me .. clicking pages in the tree shows me an IE error in the viewing pane. Am I doing something wrong?
Jenko
Okay, I got it! You have to right click the CHM file, Properties, and press Unblock. That ensures that webpages can be viewed. Its working fine now :)

Yeah, downloading the chm not so much fun any more as it does not include the all important "User notes".

.Chm therefore is handy for a quick lookup but its also quite easy to train FF to get named functions, and there's a search addon for the FF Search bar.

There are more.
