I've got a few small web projects where I'd like to get some user feedback however the services I've found are not cheap. To get to a useful level of features on UserVoice or Get Satisfaction I'd be needing to be on at least the $90/month plan on either service, multipled by a few sites is far more than I can justify spending for a few side projects.

To put that in perspective, for that money ($90/month) I can get a 1.4GB Linode or 1GB Slicehost with cash to spare I reckon their services are overpriced.

I did find a cheaper alternative, crowdsound however their last blog entry is dated Oct 08' so it looks like its defunct now, but at $10/month its much more palatable.

So my question is are there any open source alternatives to UserVoice or Get Satisfaction?

I'm mainly after 1) Feature suggestion/bug reports/feedback with moderation and voting 2) Integration with existing site (single signon) 3) Basic analytics

I'd prefer something using Django or RoR or anything else is fine too (since I cant seem to find anything via google)

Anyone?

SO clones, seem to be your best bet: http://code.google.com/p/cnprog/ http://code.google.com/p/soclone/

FWIW, SO user discussion itself moved to a self hosted meta SO site, from UserVoice; And it didn't seem to be too hard/bad.

You can try OpenMind. It is Rails and GPLed.

If you have your own web server, take a look at VoxPopuli. This is a web widget designed for hosting on your web site. It's free and open-source and it can be easily integrated into any CMS, forum system and alike.

http://www.ideatorrent.org is used by Ubuntu and Sourceforge and is based on Drupal. For my point of view it's better than uservoice or getsatisfaction.

@Gagarine: could you please elaborate on why you think IdeaTorrent is better than UserVoice and GetSatisfaction?

An excellent hosted choice = http://bubbleideas.com. I just moved my community over and customized its CSS (http://talktoht.com). Thought of taking some reviews from you guys. How does it look?

Please let me know. Madeline.

this is not an open source project. it is a paid, hosted, closed source one from the looks of it. not at all what the question was looking for.

It is NOT open source, but it IS free:

http://www.google.com/moderator/

It does not provide analytics or single sign on out of the box (I don't think it does, at least), but it does have suggestions and voting, much like GetSatisfaction and UserVoice do.

Also, there is an API so you COULD integrate into your site and collect analytics on it that way. and possibly allow for single sign-on too. Also, you can embed it directly in your site, plug-and-play style.
