I have the old 8book O'Reily Serious "The X Resources" in my bookshelf bought about 15 years ago.

Is there any book which is explaining the new technologies and X11 extensions like XDnD, Xinerama, XCursor, XRandR, XRender, XIM + Input Methods etc. maybe with a chapter (but not more) of GTK and QT. I'm not even asking for Compiz and other state of the art stuff.

I can't believe that the chaos in the man pages is the only documentation there is.

"The Joy of X".

Amazon says "reprint of the much-cited 1993 classic" and does not give a readable TOC. So i guess this isn't it. There are a lot of books up to 1995 and then there seems to be a total Void.

I used it back in 1999 to write a custom window manager. The cover is different than my copy so they must have just done a reprint without making a new edition.
