I can combine voice chat + screen sharing between two OSX machines using iChat, and it mostly works well. But if one of the machines is Windows, what should I use?

I'm trying to demo completed features to an offsite product owner as part of Agile's "done done" practice. Ideally either machine could host the shared screen and either would control it. Software installation is OK, but reliability is crucial. Payware is fine if it works.

Any suggestions?

I'm really not sure if this will work for you, but MSN messenger has a Remote Desktop function.

You could also try a service like LogMeIn.

VNC is part of Leopard (OSX 10.5) so you can use that

Nice suggestion, what would you suggest for the voice part over Windows <-> Mac? Skype?

(Disclaimer : I work on the Yuuguu dev team)

I would recommend having a look at Yuuguu. It works on Windows, Mac & various flavours of Linux and will allow you to screen share (with remote control if you need) between different machines.

I can highly recommend Adobe Connect Pro (which used to be Macromedia Breeze).

It's a web-browser based conferencing and screen or window sharing application which is supported for Windows and Mac (though we've not used it on a Mac yet), which means no installation!

Although it has VoIP, we've found it to be a little hit and miss on software demonstrations and training sessions between the UK and the USA, but it also has local teleconferencing support which is much better.

They're currently offering a free trail for 15 days

My company uses GoToMeeting by Citrix Online. If it's just two machines, you can also use Co-pilot.

Have a look at WebEx, you can allow different users to share their desktops, record the chat etc.

I used Yugma and thought it was decent in combination with Skype.

I view Mac screens from Windows (I generally don't go the other way around).

I am using using Vine Server VNC for Mac OS X, and RealVNC for Windows - this works great.

You can find Vine Server for Mac OS X on versiontracker.com - FREE

You can find RealVNC on realvnc.com - They have a free version here (requires you to fill in a survey form) - not supported on Mac OS X, Vista or Win2k8.

If you want to use RealVNC on Mac OS X, you need the enterprise version (not free).

If you want ot use RealVNC on Vista or Win2k8, you need at least the personal edition (not free).

I recently installed DimDim on a Windows machine & shared with 2 other users on Macs. Worked fine. There's a piece of software to install and some Flash UI on the website.

You can use RHUB's TurboMeeting. It allows either a Mac or a PC to control each other's screen. They support file transfer, chat, annotation, and voice chat (Nov 2010). TurboMeeting has gotten great reviews .
