I am trying to learn about writing device drivers for windows. As part of it I need to display a custom icon in the device manager tree for my device. For that I have got a url from windows site that is http://download.microsoft.com/download/9/c/5/9c5b2167-8017-4bae-9fde-d599bac8184a/CustomIcon.docx
But this document talks about vista only. I need to display custom icon in win 2000/xp/vista. I wonder how the custom icon was displayed in windows 2000 with out the entries ADDPROPERTY and DeviceIcon in the inf.
Can some one please help me on this?
I have tried to display custom icon in Vista as said in the document, but still I am not able to display the icon in the device manager. Has any one tried to display the icon using the procedure said in the document?
