Different design for categories in oscommerce

I am working on a site where there is a heirarchy of categories.

Products
-Collection 1
-Collection 2
Accessories
-Acctype 1
-Acctype 3

And so on. What I need to accomplish is determining if the category I am in is "Products" or "Accessories". What do I look at to find the top level category that I am in?

I am using OSCommerce 2.2. or
